My Cream Cheese Strawberry Dip - Now Sugar Free!

This site has moved and this recipe can be found at:

Once upon a time I had a recipe for Strawberry Dip.  It was creamy white and it looked like the well known marshmallow cream fruit dip, but it was a lot better in my opinion.  It was so good that one of my daughters entered it into a 4-H cooking contest. Anyway, it was made by cooking egg yolks, orange juice and sugar into a custard before adding whipped cream for the most delicate creamy dip I have ever tasted.  I said good-bye to my strawberry dip when I kissed sugar good-bye last summer; or at least I thought I had.  Then I discovered that I could recreate it, but make it better, because it is sugar free and guilt free now. Yay!
I put the finishing touches to this recipe last week, but have just been slow to  post it because it seemed so simple.   I made a small test batch for my daughter when she was here a few days ago and she remembered my original dip; she couldn't believe how good this sugar free one is either. Then last night Peaches and I were enjoying it as a snack and he said "You should put this on your blog, it is REALLY good!"  So...here it is:

Strawberry Cream Dip
(Serves 2)

2 tablespoons cream cheese (I don't use low fat here as it increases the carb count)

2 tablespoons plain greek yogurt (I did not use 0%)

1/2 teaspoon vanilla

1/ 16 teaspoon orange flavoring - start with this amount but the strength will probably vary among brands (optional if you don't remember what the original dip tasted like but not optional if you want the same subtle citrus flavor)'

2 tablespoons truvia type sweetener -ground in coffee grinder(erythritol and stevia)  or try 1 tablespoon sweet blend

1 - 2 tablespoon cream or (1/2 cream and 1/2 water to thin) -THM half and half just keep thinning until it suits you.

Strawberries -  See note below and keep each serving at 10 grams of carbs or less (for your total snack) since the dip is not low fat.

Blend together until smooth.  If you want it thinner drizzle in cream till you reach the desired consistency...I have not found that necessary as long as I mix it with my mini processor.  An immersion blender will give you a thinner consistency.

If you double the recipe you might get lucky and have LEFTOVERS!  Then for breakfast you can toast 1/4 piece of Joseph's lavish bread (3.5 grams of carbohydrates)by spraying both sides with oil...I use coconut oil and put it  under the broiler until golden brown on both sides and crispy. (Watch it carefully or it WILL burn!
Then spread the bread with dip and sprinkle some strawberries that have been sweetened with truvia if necessary and top with a bit of fat free whipped cream.  But that's just a bonus....
