Introduction:....

WHY TURTLE HULLS?

I'd like to skip this part because it's probably going to be a little too philosophical for most, but for the sake of continuity and because it's so much easier understand where someone is going when you know where they're coming from; here goes.

I figure that everyone has an ahh hah moment at least once in their lives and for me, it came at age 17.  I was raised in a tiny town in East Texas and everyone there from the time they could toddle around in diapers with a pacifier in their mouth could point to a car, if you asked, and show you where the turtle hull was located.  Chances are, you call it a trunk, but in my little world up until the age of 17; it was the turtle hull.  At least it was, until the faithful day when, as a young college student, I announced to some of my new city friends that I was about to get something out of my turtle hull.  I'll never forget it; they got the most perplexed expressions on their faces and looked at each other, and at me, like I'd lost my mind.  They actually followed me outside to see for themselves what sort of backwoods creation I was about to produce from the back of my Ford Maverick.   Why was this moment a big deal?  Because it showed me something that I might have gotten to be much older before I ever figured out, if then.  You can be absolutely, completely sure that you know something is the truth because everyone you trust has always told you it is the truth; people who'd never lie to you on purpose.  You can have understood this to be true all your life and unless you have a perfectly objective standard for that truth you can be dead wrong.  I mean EVERYONE knew what a turtle hull was right?  Wrong!   I learned that day not to take for granted that everything was, or ever would be, as I believed it to be just because I believed it and that I would have to find some other way of verifying truth and reality than just my own ideas and opinions.

In a lot of ways, I have been on a quest for truth since that day, and would probably be no closer today than I was then except that I actually know who the objective  source of truth is and I talk to Him all the time!  I am a first born and am constantly asking Him to explain things to me and,  in one way or another; He does!  My favorite verse in the whole bible is James 1:5 "If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not, and it shall be given him".  Isn't that exciting?  The most brilliant being in the universe saying --Hey if you want to know how it goes--just ask!  All information must stand the test of the written Word of God and it stands or falls on that testimony, but God also speaks to us through His creation and through the exhortations and  wisdom that He has given others.  I have been privileged to meet and know so many outstanding, selfless, intelligent people and I would be thrilled to help pass along some of what I've learned from and through them as they have faced their challenges.

As a 50-something year old mama and Nana I have many interest and life experiences, but these days most revolve around my new wonderful eating plan; Trim Healthy Mama, home remedies to help stop almost any common ailment in it's tracks before it becomes a full blown emergency, natural gardening, and making low-carb- no sugar AND higher carb - low fat- no sugar meals and snacks. This last endeavor has worked out so well for me that I can actually serve these meals to my meat and potatoes guys and they ask for more!

Hope to see you back here soon and let me know any feedback that you think might be helpful as we ask, seek and knock for the answers to life that we need.
